The 11th India International Youth Sailing Championship 2026 is being held from January 4 to January 10 at Chennai Port. The championship features 117 sailors from 13 countries. It is considered India’s most consistent international youth sailing regatta.

Jallikattu is a traditional sport celebrated mainly in Tamil Nadu during harvest festivals. The state approved the first event of 2026 at Thatchankurichi village under strict safety Standard Operating Procedures. The sport is regulated under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, as amended in 2017.

Esha Singh won the individual gold with a score of 239.8. She also led the Indian women\'s team (including Manu Bhaker and Suruchi Singh) to a team gold medal at the championship in Delhi.

Fourteen-year-old Amieyra Khoslla won the gold medal in the Under-17 bouldering event in Bengaluru. She scored a perfect 100.0 by topping all four qualification boulders. The championship was co-organized by the Indian Mountaineering Foundation and the General Thimayya National Academy of Adventure.

The tournament was held at Dr. Sampurnanand Sports Stadium in Varanasi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the event. More than 1,000 players from 58 teams participated between January 4 and January 11, 2026.

The 44th Junior National Kho Kho Championship was hosted at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium in Gunjur, Bengaluru. Around 1,000 athletes participated in boys’ and girls’ categories. The event preceded the 58th Senior Nationals in Telangana and the 35th Sub-Junior Nationals in Haryana.

The games began on January 5, 2026 at Ghoghla Beach in Diu. More than 2,100 athletes are participating in eight sports disciplines. The event is organized by the Union Territory administration and runs until January 10.
