The 14th International Tourism Mart (ITM) was held from 29–31 October 2026 in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh. The event was organised by the Union Ministry of Tourism, in association with the Arunachal Pradesh government and other northeastern states. The mart aimed to promote tourism in Northeast India and strengthen partnerships between domestic and international tourism stakeholders. More than 200 participants, including 43 international buyers from 22 countries, attended the event.

Yard 1283 (Srishti), a Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessel (NGOPV), was launched on 27 October 2026 at Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), Goa. The ship is indigenously designed and built, supporting India’s defence manufacturing capabilities. NGOPVs will strengthen the Indian Navy’s maritime operations, including maritime surveillance, search and rescue, offshore asset protection, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR), and anti-piracy missions. The vessel’s name, Srishti, is derived from Sanskrit and means “creation” or “act of creating.” The launch supports the Government of India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives.

Project Arunank, a project of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), celebrated its 19th Raising Day on 24 October 2026 at Naharlagun, Arunachal Pradesh. The project was raised in 2008 to strengthen strategic infrastructure and improve connectivity in the challenging terrain of Arunachal Pradesh. It develops and maintains border roads and other vital infrastructure across rugged mountains, dense forests and difficult climatic conditions. Its work strengthens the operational preparedness of the Armed Forces and improves accessibility, mobility and economic opportunities for remote communities. The project promotes sustainable infrastructure through modern technologies, alternative construction materials, geocells and slope-protection measures.

The 11th edition of the India–Indonesia Joint Special Forces Exercise GARUDA SHAKTI commenced on 27 October 2026 at Banyuwangi, Indonesia. The Indian contingent comprises troops from the Parachute Regiment (Special Forces), while the Indonesian contingent consists of personnel from the Indonesian Special Forces. The primary objective is to strengthen mutual understanding, cooperation and interoperability between the Special Forces of both countries. Training focuses on special operations in jungle environments, including obstacle crossing, combat marksmanship, mountaineering, air assault and combat-hardening sessions. The exercise also facilitates the exchange of knowledge about weapons, equipment and operational practices.

The Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025 received Guinness World Records certification as the “Largest Innovation Solution Competition”, with 2,87,967 project submissions from across India. The initiative was organised by the Department of School Education and Literacy, in collaboration with the Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, and AICTE. It aims to encourage creativity, scientific curiosity, entrepreneurship and problem-solving among school students. The Buildathon focused on four pillars: Atmanirbhar Bharat, Swadeshi, Vocal for Local and Samriddh Bharat.
